OLD RAILWAYS ON HORSEBACK
This is a popular railway line in the Peak District. The Leek and Manifold
Valley Light railway opened in 1904 and closed in 1934. In 1937 it was
converted to recreational use. It is about 8 miles long with a 150 yard tunnel
and wound its way along between two rivers, the Manifold and the Hamps. It
linked Waterhouses with Hulme End. Although you have to search hard it can
be ridden on horseback.
